Tuesday 28th October

We had a lovely time away in Manchester. Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at Salford Quays which is usually fine but this time they seemed to have got less organised and breakfast was a little chaotic!

Saw Eddi Reader at the Lowry which I really enjoyed. Here is a photo I took of her last year at the Wickham festival

I’m never quite sure what to make of the Lowry. Its a very modern building with a strange colour scheme of purple and orange. This time we didn’t have time to visit the exhibition of the Lowry paintings but I hope to do that next time we are up there.

We took the opportunity to practise with our cameras whilst we were there and here are some of the results:

For any football fans:

We also took the opportunity to visit Blackpool!!

And this is the Packet House at Worsley:

October 24th and half term hols start right now!

This half term has seemed really long and I definitely need this break. When we return it’s going to be rather hectic as we have 80 pupils taking their English GCSE early and the first exam is on the 5th. That week will entail several after school revision sessions to run and all the mountains of exam paperwork we have to fill in.

Plans for half term week include a few days in Manchester visiting father-in-law, trip to the Lowry to see Eddi Reader in concert, a trip to Norfolk for my youngest’s review, a day in school clearing cupboards and getting coursework marked and hopefully a few hours at some point relaxing and doing some crafting of some kind.

October 12th

Went to see Mamma Mia last night. Really enjoyed it especially since we haven’t been to the pictures for ages and ages. Really difficult to believe that Meryl Streep is 59!

September Shabby Chic swap

This is the swap I received from Yvonne. I was so pleased with it especially as I was going to get myself a tomato pin cushion but this one is so much nicer. Even Harry commented on how lovely it was.

Shabby Chic August Swap

I must apologise to Chrissie for taking so long to post a photo of the wonderful swap she sent me. I love it all but especially the ceramic wellies. They now sit on my desk and hold my pens.

Feeling pleased with myself

Yesterday I saw some lovely recipe folders in Sainsburys and was very tempted. But as they cost £5 and I’m trying to cut costs, I resisted and left without one. Since then my thoughts have continually wandered back to the recipe folder and I was seriously thinking of going back to get one. Then I remembered that I had an old A5 binder so I have covered it in a green check material and have cut up some green card as dividers. Fortunately I also had some A5 lined paper so now I have a recipe folder/binder at no cost…..yipee
